After Action Report: T-Rex Update

We wanted to take a minute to thank you all for a great promotion this weekend. Thanks to all the free players for joining in the fun and an even bigger thanks if you bought it.

We feel pretty good about the whole thing and we’re anxious to get started on the next big update. But before I get to that let me just say we’re combing through everyone’s comments and compiling an excellent list of notes for the next patch. You’ll have to be just a little patient on that though because the team’s only programmer is leaving on a very poorly timed vacation. Rest assured that he won’t enjoy a minute of it as he is kept awake day and night by the number of things left undone in Dino D-Day. When he returns though, he’ll dive right in and get a really good patch out that addresses the issues that have been raised over the weekend.

Thinking beyond that though, our next major update is starting to take form. We just wanted to give you a little idea of what we’re thinking.

New Map – We want to do another map set in Sicily. This would be a Capture Point map with 3 capture points. 1 in the middle, 1 near the Axis spawn, 1 near the Allied spawn. Each side fights over the middle, once the middle is captured you drive on deeper into enemy territory. In other words, classic capture point game mode. If you’ve got some ideas for a unique Dino D-Day spin on this we’re all ears!

Two New Axis Dinosaurs – At this point, we’re thinking smaller dinosaurs. We’ve got some ideas in mind but if you want to chip in your two cents feel free.

Alternate Allied Loadouts – We want to begin the process of allowing you to switch up your weapon loadout for your character. What weapons would you like to see in the game? Also, the alternate weapons we add would help offset the additional Axis dinosaurs.

Progress Toward Survival Mode – We’ve already implemented some AI characters into the game and we’ll be slowly refining that in the weeks and months ahead. A nice side effect of this is it will allow us to port the old mod that we did into the new game. This was a great suggestion someone on the forums had a while back. It’s certainly not a replacement for a singleplayer campaign but it might be something fun for you to play through just to see how it all started. Maybe we’ll throw in a few suprises too for those that have played it before. It’s also a good way for us to develop some stuff under the hood that will support Survival mode and campaign gameplay down the road.

That’s what we’re thinking at the moment. Thanks again to everyone for playing! See you in-game!
